The acting governor of Irkutsk Region Sergei Levchenko intends to lead the regional CPRF list and go on leave for the election period. He stressed that he had not discussed this decision with the presidential administration, but believes that if United Russia governors head the lists, he is also entitled to do the same. Levchenko also said that his task as regional head is to ensure the legality of the elections and prevent pressure on voters.

The current head of the Irkutsk Region intends to lead the regional list of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. For the duration of the elections, he plans to take leave. Meanwhile, Sergei Levchenko has not yet discussed his decision with the head of the Presidential Administration for Domestic Policy, Tatyana Voronova, but clarified: “if regional lists can be headed by United Russia governors, then I will head it too.”

When asked about the possibility of a situation in which a communist governor would be forced to gather votes for United Russia, Sergei Levchenko noted:
– I will ensure legality. It is my official duty as governor to make sure that the elections are held lawfully. I am already beginning to work on this from the standpoint of both legislation and the preparation of election commissions at various levels, and I can tell you firmly that no one will force anyone to the polls. For anyone.
