In Irkutsk, festive symbols for Victory Day were approved and a plan of events covering the whole city was presented. The program includes repairing veterans apartments, restoring memorials and graves, the Veteran Lives Nearby, Letter to a Veteran, St George Ribbon campaigns, and a request center for the Immortal Regiment. On May 9, folk festivities will take place in central Irkutsk and the districts, and the celebration will end with fireworks.

The festive symbolism was approved at the first meeting chaired by the mayor.
The basis of the corporate style in 2016 was a multicolored image of the insignia of the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st degree, framed by golden laurel branches.
At the same time, historical information about Irkutsk and Irkutsk residents during the war years will also be placed on the banners. There are 5,215 veterans living in the regional center.
Repairs to veterans’ apartments will continue; applications are currently being collected in the administrative committees. In 2015, nearly 160 apartments were repaired.
By May, memorials, monuments, obelisks, memorial plaques, and military burial sites will be put in order.
In April and May, the well-known campaigns “Veteran Lives Nearby,” “Letter to a Veteran,” and “St. George Ribbon” will take place. The “Remember Me” project is also continuing.
Starting April 4, a reception center for applications from participants in the “Immortal Regiment” campaign for the production of placards will begin operating. Applications will be accepted by phone at 520-190.
Contests and quizzes, themed evenings, exhibitions, meetings between veterans and young people, and other events will be held at city venues.
On May 9, public festivities will take place in the center of Irkutsk and in the districts. The celebration will conclude with fireworks.
Note that on May 9, public transport will operate until 1:00 a.m. Municipal services will switch to an enhanced mode to clean the city by the morning of May 10.
- There is no need to remind anyone that the celebration of Victory Day must be held with dignity. The tasks have been set. And our duty is not only to hold the celebrations, but also to care for veterans every day, because we owe them,- Dmitry Berdnikov said.
