In Irkutsk, from the end of April, special dispensers with disposable bags and scoops for cleaning up after dogs will begin to be installed. They will be placed in the city center, on the embankments, and in the square near Decembrists Square, to teach pet owners to clean up after them and make the city cleaner. As part of the project, 33 steel dispensers have already been purchased, and they will be refilled by organizations responsible for maintaining parks and squares.
Not every city resident likes it when dogs are walked under their windows or in park areas. Especially in spring, when the snow is melting. Now there may be fewer disputes between passersby and dog owners.Starting at the end of April, in the regional center, as part of the project “We Are Responsible for Those We Have Tamed,” special dispensers with disposable bags and scoops for cleaning up after dogs will begin to be installed. The goal of the campaign is to draw pet owners’ attention so that they clean up after their pets and treat the environment more carefully.
- Based on the experience of other cities, it can be said that practically everyone has abandoned special dog-walking areas, since pet owners simply do not take them there, - says Natalia Stupina, head of the environmental management department of the Irkutsk administration. - It is much more effective to teach the public to clean up after pets.
33 stainless steel dispensers with disposable hygiene kits have already been purchased and will soon be delivered to Irkutsk. They will be installed in the city center, including on the Angara embankment from Kozhova Street to the Glazkovsky Bridge, on the Lower Embankment from the Epiphany Cathedral to Frank-Kamenetsky Street, as well as in the square in the area of Decembrists Square.
The dispensers will be mounted on electric poles. And so they won’t be stolen, in large letters it will be written on them that these are special bags for excrement. The organizations responsible for maintaining the squares and parks will replenish the machines with disposable bags.
