The All-Russian Popular Front has compiled the final ranking of Russian cities based on the results of the “Let’s Assess Road Quality!” inspection. The leaders in road quality were Tyumen, Saransk, and Belgorod. The worst were the roads of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Ulyanovsk, and Yakutsk. The size of the potholes on the roads in these cities far exceeds the permissible standards. Irkutsk took 33rd place in this ranking. To assess the overall condition of the roads, the Kalabashechka principle was used (a special public monitoring tool — a pothole standard, a block measuring 60x15x5 cm).
More than 170 requests were sent to the Prosecutor General’s Office, regional prosecutor’s offices, local authorities, regional administrations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate, and other agencies regarding the violations identified.
When compiling this ranking, the condition of warranty roads, the arrangement of pedestrian crossings near social infrastructure facilities, the availability and arrangement of parking spaces and ramps near medical institutions, as well as the current condition of city streets in terms of deviation from GOST requirements, were taken into account.
