The city authorities of Irkutsk plan to create a central recreation area on the islands of Yunost and Konnoy. Chief architect Sergey Alexandrov announced an investment agreement for a 55-meter Ferris wheel.
Central urban recreational zones are planned to be created by the city authorities on the islands of Yunost and Konny. As reported by Chief Architect Sergey Alexandrov at the deputy hearings in the city Duma, an investment agreement has already been signed with a potential investor for the installation of a large Ferris wheel on Konny Island.– A site for the wheel is planned to be allocated on Konny Island near the fitness club "Vesna" and the shopping center "Komsomoll," – clarified Sergey Alexandrov. – In the future, other attractions will be installed around the Ferris wheel.
The diameter of the structure will be 55 meters. Currently, preparations are underway for conducting geodetic works for its installation.
In general, to develop the territory of the Konny and Yunost islands, the Irkutsk city administration has signed a municipal contract for project development with LLC Agency for Territorial Development "Urban Planning School." The contractor will conduct an urban planning analysis of the area, a comprehensive study, a sociological survey to determine the target audience for the islands, and ultimately create a concept for organizing an urban park. The results of the first stage of work will be presented on May 15, and the completed project on June 10.
