The Affordable Housing for Young People program is working despite the crisis

The regional program Young People Affordable Housing continues even in the crisis, last year 92 young families bought apartments through it, and since 2005 hundreds of Siberians have already received their own homes. In Sayansk the program works especially well, 24 participating families have already moved in, and 200 more young families are waiting for housing. This year 13 families will move in, and the authorities are ready to consider increasing funding for the program.

The regional program "Affordable Housing for the Young" continues to operate even in times of crisis. Last year, 92 young families purchased housing under the program. Since 2005, when the project started, hundreds of Siberians have already acquired a place of their own.
To buy an apartment, a young family needs 60 percent of the cost of the housing. The remaining 40 percent comes from the federal, regional, and municipal budgets. Many did not believe this, says Oksana Sedina, head of the youth policy department of the Sayansk administration. In the first year of the program, people had to be literally persuaded to join it. Now 200 young families in Sayansk are waiting their turn to buy housing. This year, 13 of them will become new homeowners:
- At the moment, the budget includes an amount of 1 million rubles. And the position of the administration, the position of the City District Duma, is that the program must continue, must work, and therefore we are ready to consider increasing funding for this program after all.
The program "Affordable Housing for the Young" has been operating in the city for 4 years already. With its help, 97 Sayansk families have purchased apartments.
Sayansk is one of the few territories in the Angara region where the program "Affordable Housing for the Young" is being implemented most successfully. If in other cities of the Irkutsk region young families have only received certificates for the purchase of apartments, here all 24 participating families have already celebrated moving into their new homes. And that was even before the New Year.
