Witnesses claim the driver was speeding creating a dangerous situation. Both victims were hospitalized and authorities intend to test the driver for alcohol intoxication.
14 May in the regional center at the tram stop "Detskaya" on Napolnaya Street, a Renault Logan, driven by a 26-year-old taxi driver, crashed into the stop and hit a 38-year-old pedestrian.The accident occurred at around 3:30 PM. According to eyewitnesses, prior to the incident, the driver was speeding and creating a dangerous situation on the road.
Police explained that after the collision, both the driver and the pedestrian were taken to the hospital for medical assistance. The taxi passenger was not injured.
Law enforcement intends to test the driver, as there are grounds to believe that the individual was operating the vehicle under the influence. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Irkutsk region.
