In Irkutsk, tree and shrub care continues, 244 shrubs have already been shaped into balls in parks and squares to give the greenery a neat look and an even crown. Poplars are also being rejuvenated and deeply pruned in the city center, followed by root feeding at 19 locations. The administration says these measures improve plant health and extend their life.
As reported by the acting head of the Ecology Department of the Irkutsk city administration, Natalya Stupina, this will make it possible to achieve an even distribution of skeletal branches and give the crown a certain shape.“This year, 244 shrubs in the city’s parks and squares have been shaped into spheres. It is very important that residents’ recreation areas be beautiful and interestingly designed,” Natalya Stupina noted.
According to the head of the Ecology Department, Irkutsk residents expressed concern about the pruning of poplars in the city center. At present, rejuvenating and deep pruning was being carried out, which is necessary to maintain the trees’ vital functions.
Natalya Stupina said that the contractor carried out root feeding of the trees at 19 addresses where such pruning was performed.
“Three years ago, deep rejuvenating pruning of poplars was carried out at the intersection of Sukhe-Bator and Zhelyabov streets. Now we are observing active growth of shoots along the periphery of the crown. By these actions, we improved the condition of the trees and extended their lives,” Natalya Stupina said.
