The interdepartmental commission approved Irkutsk's bid to host the 2019 men's bandy world championship and the 2017 women's world championship. Now the Russian government must review the decision, then the International Bandy Federation, where the host will be decided on July 14 in Montenegro. Irkutsk already hosted the men's world championship in 2014 and the women's in 2012.
At the interdepartmental commission on the organization and conduct of international sports competitions chaired by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, Irkutsk’s bid to host the 2019 Men’s Bandy World Championship and the 2017 Women’s World Championship was approved.Next, the bid must be considered by the Russian government. If it gives the green light, it will be sent to the International Bandy Federation. If it also says yes there, the World Championship will be held in Irkutsk.
- The executive committee meeting of the Federation will take place on July 14 in Montenegro, - the press service of the Russian Bandy Federation said. – That is where it will be decided who will host the 2017 and 2019 world tournaments.
As a reminder, Irkutsk successfully hosted the men’s world forum in 2014. And the Women’s World Championship was held here in 2012.
