In the Irkutsk region, amendments were withdrawn that could have deprived large families of a monthly allowance of 200 rubles for each child. Governor I. Esipovsky stressed that even in a crisis such families cannot be left without support, since for many this amount is truly important. The article also describes other aid measures for large families, from free medicines and food to providing schoolchildren with clothes and sports uniforms.
The regional government, as part of optimizing expenditures of the regional budget, submitted to the Legislative Assembly amendments to the law “On Social Support in the Irkutsk Region for Families with Children,” in which it proposed eliminating the monthly social benefit payment of 200 rubles for each child. However, it became known the day before that this amendment had been withdrawn by Governor I. Yesipovsky.“I am sure that even during a crisis, large families cannot be deprived of support. For many, even these 200 rubles are real help. We talk about the demographic situation, we urge women to give birth to children, families to take children from orphanages. No matter how difficult it may be, we will try to preserve social benefits,” said Igor Yesipovsky.
In the region, large families often have a per capita income below the subsistence minimum. To support such families, in addition to the monthly benefit, the government proposes the following measures: free provision of medicines purchased by prescription from doctors for outpatient treatment for children under 6 years of age, provision of free meals for students attending municipal general education institutions (if there is no organized catering in municipal general education institutions – provision of a food package), once every two years – provision of children with a set of clothing and sportswear for attending school classes, or provision of a benefit for the purchase of these items.
