In Irkutsk, police seized 100 kilograms of counterfeit minced meat at a market, sold under a well known meat producer brand. Tests found toxins that can cause intestinal diseases, and the products were handmade. Administrative and criminal measures are being prepared, including for illegal use of a trademark.

Police officers seized one hundred kilograms of counterfeit minced meat from one of the pavilions at a market in Irkutsk. Operatives received information about the sale of substandard meat products.
During the inspection, police discovered minced meat under the well-known brand name of one of the region’s largest meat producers. After all the products were seized and sent for examination, it was found that the meat contained toxic infections that could cause intestinal diseases. The manufacturing company and the private entrepreneur engaged in the distribution of the products will be held administratively and criminally liable.
- It was established that the minced meat was produced at a makeshift facility. At present, the issue of bringing those responsible to criminal liability for the illegal use of a trademark is being decided, says Konstantin Sheychik, head of the department of the police administration for combating offenses in the consumer market.
