In Irkutsk, 219 million rubles were allocated in 2009 for landscaping, maintenance, and environmental safety. The funds should cover flowers, trees, playgrounds, lawns, and other work. Plans include updating Kirov Square and creating a new square by the House of Artists with a fountain, gazebo, and paths.
219 million rubles were allocated by the city administration for the implementation of the program "Improvement, maintenance and ensuring environmental safety of the territory of Irkutsk" in 2009.This amount does not exceed the amount allocated in 2008, but it is much more significant than in previous years (2004 - 2007). Nadezhda Kuzmenkova, head of the landscaping department, told Sibnovosti.ru about this.
N. Kuzmenkova is confident that these funds will be enough to carry out the planned work, including planting annual flower seedlings in flower beds, building children's and sports playgrounds, mowing lawns, and planting trees. Contracting organizations that will take on the order will be selected throughout the year through a competition. According to experience from previous years, Gorzelenkhoz has proven itself best in this field.
Among the most notable landscaping plans is work on Kirov Square. An additional 20 benches and the same number of trash bins will be installed here. In total, about 100 benches are planned to be installed in the city squares. And from May to July, major work will unfold near the House of Artists at the intersection of K. Marx and Dekabrskikh Sobytiy streets. A new square will appear here: there will be a fountain, a gazebo, and a paved walkway. 40 million rubles have been allocated for the implementation of this project, N. Kuzmenkova noted.
