Yesterday in Irkutsk, a discussion forum and press center for discussing youth issues opened on the premises of the regional branch of the Union of Journalists of Russia. Their launch is timed to the Year of Youth, but they will continue to operate after it ends, spreading their experience in the cities and districts of the region. At the Year of Youth press center, they will discuss issues that concern the region’s new generation. Moreover, it will be students and young professionals themselves—those who know them best—who will set the topic and tone of the conversations.
– Right now is a rather difficult period, and it is not easy for young people to address issues related to choosing a profession, employment, and self-realization. Therefore, it is necessary to jointly identify these problems and look for ways to solve them, – said Sergei Sokol, First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Irkutsk Region, at the opening of the press center. – Young people think in new ways, and they have a great deal of energy, so they can accomplish much on their own. Our task is only to support interesting initiatives, which is what we will do. We want the Irkutsk Region to be associated with youth.
