The male charm and fatherly skill contest "Happiness Is Being a Father" will take place today in Irkutsk as part of the regional exhibition "World of Family."
"The contest will feature the best fathers in the region, who are raising their children well and want to demonstrate their creative nature. There will be a presentation of talented families, where men will be able to demonstrate their charm and their achievements in raising children. The event is dedicated to Father’s Day, which is celebrated in the region in March. By the way, according to statistics, there are about 2,500 families in Irkutsk alone where children are being raised by a single father. In 2007, the Association of Single Fathers was organized in the city," said an employee of the press service of the government and governor of the Irkutsk Region.
"As part of the exhibition, the Ministry of Social Development, Guardianship and Trusteeship of the Irkutsk Region has planned to hold a round table, "Helping a Child: Facets of a Single Whole." The participants will consider issues concerning the situation of children in the Irkutsk Region, measures to prevent social orphanhood, as well as assistance to families and children who find themselves in difficult life situations," the agency’s source clarified.
He also noted that during the exhibition, consultation points will be available for visitors on issues related to the provision of social support measures for families and children, family placement of orphaned children and children left without parental care, summer recreation and health improvement, and employment.
