In the Irkutsk region, for the first time a case of a raider seizure of a transport company was brought to court and its organizers were punished. According to investigators, a group of lawyers, with support from two police officers, illegally transferred property, seized the company grounds, and caused nearly 13 million rubles in damage. In the end, four organizers received 7 years suspended each, and two police officers 2 years suspended each.

They wanted to seize the business, but ended up with prison terms. For the first time in the Irkutsk Region, it was possible to successfully investigate and win in court a case against raiders who illegally attempted to seize one of the motor transport enterprises.
As a reminder, the raider takeover was carried out in January 2005. A group of lawyers, accompanied by two police officers, deceitfully entered the territory of the motor transport enterprise in the Kuibyshev District of Irkutsk, seized the administrative building, and posted their own security. After that, the raiders spent the entire night removing from the office premises documents reflecting the enterprise’s business activities, looting and destroying property.
The director was able to get onto his enterprise only a day later. By that time, the raiders had managed to destroy most of the charter documents. The raiders already had forged papers ready, according to which they were listed as the owners. In a short time, property worth more than 12.5 million rubles was transferred to their proxies. About one hundred employees of the enterprise were practically left without work. Law enforcement agencies intervened in this story in time.
In connection with this fact, a criminal case was opened under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, “Fraud,” which was investigated by investigators of the investigative department of the regional prosecutor’s office, and later by the Investigative Committee under the Prosecutor’s Office for the Irkutsk Region. The investigation established that a group of lawyers engaged in providing services for preparing documents for real estate, abusing the trust of their clients, secretly from them, re-registered all the property of the motor transport enterprise to their trusted people. Then the territory of the enterprise was actually seized.
The damage to the actual owners of the property amounted to about 13 million rubles. More than 100 people were questioned as witnesses in the case, more than 50 of them were recognized as victims. 11 people were brought to criminal responsibility for committing fraud, including two police officers. The court sentenced four organizers of this crime to 7 years of suspended imprisonment, and two police officers, who were charged under Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, “Exceeding Official Authority,” were sentenced to 2 years of suspended imprisonment.
The four organizers of the raider takeover were sentenced to 7 years of suspended imprisonment, and the two police officers who assisted the defendants received 2 years suspended each. This is the first case in the Irkutsk Region in which raiders received the punishment they deserved.
