On April 10, a sobering up center will open in Angarsk, taking its first drunk guests and, authorities hope, helping reduce alcohol related crimes. It was fitted out with 16 million rubles from the local budget.
Usually by Friday evening the number of people “under the influence” on city streets increases. Next Friday, April 10, the Angarsk sobering-up station will open its doors to its first guests. Only here will a heavily drunk citizen always be welcome. And a helping hand will be extended. City authorities hope that the work of this institution will help reduce the number of crimes, both committed while drunk and committed against intoxicated citizens.Residents approve of the innovation. They are concerned both for their own well-being — an encounter with a drunk person on the street bodes little good — and for the health of those who could not resist the green serpent. Setting up the sobering-up station cost the local budget 16 million rubles. The building was completely renovated. New ventilation, plastic windows, three shower rooms, and six cells — in short, everything for the convenience of visitors. The total capacity of the sobering-up station is fifty people. They do not plan to charge money for services here. But as was stated, those who end up in the sobering-up station will face a fine for appearing in a public place while intoxicated. And in any case — a stain on one’s reputation, since being taken to a special reception center does not enhance one’s biography.
