Last Friday a loud bang alarmed residents of Irkutsk, Angarsk and Shelekhov, but it was caused by blasting work on the bypass road. Builders are clearing space for a future highway through uninhabited areas, bypassing Baklashi and Vvedenshchina, through forest and farmland. Due to the difficult terrain and an embankment up to 20 meters high, such blasts may recur almost every week, builders say.
Last Friday, many residents of Irkutsk, Angarsk, and Shelekhov were alarmed by a loud bang. As it turned out, the cause was blasting work on the bypass road to clear the area for the construction of the highway.Builders warn: the blast was not the only one. According to the builders, the project is quite complex, due to the terrain. The road will run through uninhabited areas, bypassing the villages of Baklashi and Vvedenshchina, through forest and agricultural land. The height of the embankment in some sections will reach 20 meters. Therefore, explosions will most likely be repeated almost weekly.
