Residents of Irkutsk Oblast have become less able to pay, and credit burden has grown. In the first quarter, household debt to banks rose by over 1.1 billion rubles and exceeded 8.5 billion. Gennady Istomin said the region is among the SFO leaders in debt obligations. The article explains why the situation is worrying and what support measures are proposed for those unable to pay loans on time.
The solvency of the population in our region has fallen significantly in recent months. Some people are being laid off, others have had their wages reduced or delayed. And many, even in calmer months, took out loans that now have to be repaid.Irkutsk Oblast ranks among the top regions in the Siberian Federal District in terms of the size of debt obligations.
In absolute terms, the debt of residents of the Angara region to banks increased by about 1 billion 100 million rubles from January to March of this year, which amounts to 14.8%. Thus, by the end of the first quarter, it exceeded 8 billion 500 million rubles.
This was reported by Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the region Gennady Istomin at the round table “Formation and execution of the budget of the municipalities of Irkutsk Oblast. Problems and ways to solve them” on April 21.
“It is necessary to carry out a serious analysis of the loans issued, of the solvency of the population, and to take all possible measures to assist those who are not repaying loans because of layoffs,” Gennady Istomin emphasized.
