At Irkutsk-Passazhirsky station, improvement of the Angara riverbank has begun, the parapet has been partly rebuilt, trees planted, cable laying and light installation are underway. Rail workers plan to pave the embankment, clean the bank and riverbed, remove trash, and finish by June. The new alley will mainly be for tourist train passengers, and later access may be opened to all.

At the Irkutsk-Passazhirsky station in Irkutsk, landscaping work has begun on the riverbank of the Angara River, onto which the station’s 15th track opens. At the moment, a partial reconstruction of the protective embankment has been carried out, one hundred tree saplings have been planted, work is underway to lay electrical cable, and light fixtures are being installed.
The East Siberian Railway has begun landscaping the embankment along the tracks. Trees and shrubs have already been planted. Plans call for paving the embankment with tiles and installing 25 light fixtures. In addition, the Angara riverbank itself will be improved. The trash will be removed, and the bottom will be cleaned. Waterlogged areas will be filled with sand. The work is expected to be completed by June. However, only passengers on tourist trains will be able to stroll along the paved alley. Such trains will stop on the track closest to the embankment. Yevgeny Moldavsky, head of the Irkutsk division of the East Siberian Railway: "In essence, for ordinary city residents there is the other side of the embankment. This area is largely for passengers. Because there are no road access points here, and the territory is currently largely closed off."
Most Irkutsk residents will be able to see the new embankment from the old Angara Bridge. At least for now. In the future, they plan to build a viaduct from the station to the alley. And perhaps then anyone who wishes will be able to stroll among the birches on the left bank of the Angara. Railway workers decided to tidy up the farthest point of the Irkutsk-Passazhirsky station primarily for guests of the city who arrive in the capital of the Angara region by train. But Irkutsk residents will also be able to enjoy the view of the Angara and the city from the left bank. The landscaping of the embankment is planned to be completed already in early June.
Recall that last weekend, East Siberian Railway employees took part in a spring cleanup day and cleared not only railway facilities of trash, but also the territories of cities and settlements adjacent to the main line. Monuments and memorials in honor of the victory in the Great Patriotic War were also beautified.
