On June 7, Irkutsk will celebrate City Day with a vibrant program featuring a fair, master classes, concerts, and free tours at the new museum. Main events will be the opening of the Tikhvin Fair, the launch of the children's marathon Irkutsk, a planet of childhood, and the announcement of this year's first honorary citizen, Denis Matsuev. The celebration will end with a big concert at the monument to Alexander III and fireworks at 10.30 PM.

On the first Sunday of summer, June 7, Irkutsk will celebrate City Day. The holiday promises to be bright and memorable. Svetlana Dombrovskaya, head of the Department of Culture of the city administration, spoke about which events are planned for this day.
At 11:00, the Tikhvin Fair will open in Kirov Square. By tradition, it will feature items made by folk artisans. There will be workshops, and performing groups will take the stage. At noon, on Frank-Kamenetsky Street, the official opening ceremony of the Irkutsk City Museum will take place. Free guided tours will be held there every half hour. This year marks the beginning of a new city tradition - the names of Honorary Citizens of Irkutsk will be announced. One name has already been announced. Our fellow countryman, pianist Denis Matsuev, will become an Honorary Citizen of the city. At 1:00 p.m., on Gagarin Boulevard and at 7 other venues across the city, the children's festival marathon "Irkutsk - Planet of Childhood" will begin. "Because the future of the city is running through its streets today: in kindergartens, schools, etc., these are today’s children. And if they know that at the beginning of June there is such a day, the birthday of their native city, then in the future this will positively affect their attitude toward the city in which they live," said Svetlana Dombrovskaya, head of the Department of Culture of the Irkutsk city administration.
At 3:00 p.m., near the monument to Alexander III, the Governor's Symphony Orchestra will first perform a one-hour program. Then a large concert by Irkutsk creative groups will take place there as well. The festive celebrations will conclude with fireworks. The first volley is scheduled for 10:30 p.m.
