On Russian Entrepreneurship Day, Sergei Sokol visited the Irkutsk Innovation Business Incubator, met companies in innovation and manufacturing, and discussed support measures. He announced plans to cut the tax rate for entrepreneurs on the simplified tax system from 15 percent to 7.5 percent. The piece also says this could help preserve jobs, support small business, and spur new production.
Yesterday, May 26, on Russian Entrepreneurship Day, Acting Governor of the Irkutsk Region Sergey Sokol visited the Irkutsk Innovation Business Incubator. He familiarized himself with the activities of the companies located there and held a meeting with representatives of small and medium-sized businesses. Deputies of the Legislative Assembly of the Irkutsk Region also took part in it, the press service of the governor and the government of the Angara region reported. In particular, Sergey Sokol visited the offices of companies engaged in software, the production of roofing tiles and paving slabs from recycled materials, impregnation agents for wood protection, and the manufacture of wood products.
At the meeting with the heads of the companies, Sergey Sokol noted that at the Irkutsk business incubator they are engaged in real work, operate according to global standards, and implement innovative developments and technologies.
"This is exactly what small and medium-sized enterprises are ahead of large industrial giants in. And such projects will ultimately form the basis for the implementation of larger innovative projects. Support for entrepreneurship is one of the main priorities of the work of the government of the Irkutsk Region and, in a sense, an anti-crisis measure," he emphasized.
Entrepreneurs asked Sergey Sokol about the regional authorities' plans to reduce the tax burden. The acting governor stated that the tax rate for entrepreneurs working under the simplified taxation system would be cut in half - from 15% to 7.5%.
"This will give an impetus to the development of small business, new enterprises will open, and additional jobs will be created. We expect that reducing the tax rate will save up to 5% of enterprises from bankruptcy, about 2,000 jobs will be preserved, and it will be possible to keep entrepreneurs from 'gray' schemes of wage and tax payments," Sergey Sokol said.
At the same time, he emphasized that the authorities expect reciprocal steps from entrepreneurs - an increase in jobs, the introduction of advanced technologies, the development of new production facilities, and growth in tax payments.
