On July 8, Irkutsk and the region will celebrate Family, Love and Fidelity Day, a holiday in honor of Saints Peter and Fevronia, patrons of Christian marriage. The region will hold celebrations, award the best couples with the For Love and Fidelity medal, and honor 23 married couples who have lived together at least 25 years at the government of the Angara region. Special attention will also go to newlyweds. At the Irkutsk marriage palace they will receive gifts, and nearby a symbolic Bench of Reconciliation will open for lovers and married couples.
On July 8, Irkutsk celebrates the All-Russian Day of the Murom Saints Peter and Fevronia - the Russian equivalent of Valentine's Day."A family is the unity of thoughts and deeds." Under this motto, the celebration of Family, Love and Fidelity Day will take place tomorrow in the Irkutsk Region.
Family, Love and Fidelity Day is being celebrated in Russia for the second time. It is on this day that the Russian Orthodox Church commemorates the holy miracle-working spouses, the Murom princes Peter and Fevronia, the patrons of Christian marriage.
Festive events will also take place in the Irkutsk Region. In order to strengthen families, the best fathers and mothers will be awarded the medal "For Love and Fidelity." In the municipalities of the region, married couples celebrating milestone anniversaries of married life this year, as well as newlyweds who have decided to register their marriage on this day, will be honored. In honor of the holiday, 23 married couples will be awarded in the Government of the Angara Region. All of them registered their marriages at least 25 years ago and have proven themselves to be faithful, loving spouses and parents. Surprises will also await those who come to the Irkutsk Marriage Palace tomorrow. Registry office employees have prepared gifts for them. A "Bench of Reconciliation" will also be opened near the palace.
The "Bench of Reconciliation," according to its creators, will become a symbolic place for the reconciliation of quarreling lovers and the uniting of married couples. Its appearance is timed to coincide with Family, Love and Fidelity Day, which will be celebrated on July 8.
