The candidate for governor of Irkutsk Oblast will be approved in office on June 8

On June 8, the Legislative Assembly of the Irkutsk Region will consider at an extraordinary session the issue of granting Dmitry Mezentsev the powers of governor. Before the vote he will meet with representatives of all factions, and then, as expected, the inauguration will take place. Speaker Lyudmila Berlina believes Mezentsev's candidacy will be approved. She says he knows the region well and has extensive experience in the Federation Council.

An extraordinary session of the Legislative Assembly of the Irkutsk Region has been scheduled for June 8. At it, the issue of granting Dmitry Mezentsev the powers of governor of the Irkutsk Region will be considered.
Before the session, Mezentsev will meet with representatives of all political factions in the Legislative Assembly and will familiarize himself with an analytical note on the situation in the region, which is currently being prepared in the government of the Irkutsk Region.
As a reminder, under the law, the regional representative body is obliged to consider the candidate for the post of governor within two weeks from the day the president submits it for approval. Dmitry Mezentsev is to be presented to the deputies by the presidential plenipotentiary in the Siberian Federal District, Anatoly Kvashnin.
Mezentsev was proposed by the head of state for the post of governor of the Irkutsk Region on May 26, although his name was not included in the list of the presidential plenipotentiary in the Siberian Federal District. Anatoly Kvashnin had proposed the candidacies of the acting governor of the Irkutsk Region, Sergei Sokol, and his assistant Oleg Budargin.
As the chairwoman of the Legislative Assembly, Lyudmila Berlina, said, after the secret ballot procedure at this same session, the procedure for the statutory form of taking office as governor is scheduled. The speaker believes that Dmitry Mezentsev’s candidacy will be approved; it suits everyone: he has extensive experience in the Federation Council, where for many years he has represented the interests of the Irkutsk Region, and he knows the region’s problems well.
