Aeroproject has completed the master plan for building Irkutsk's new airport and handed the design and survey documents to the client. The site approved is near Pozdnyakovo.

Specialists of the state design, survey, and research institute of civil aviation “Aeroproject” have completed the development of the master plan for the construction of Irkutsk Airport and have handed over the design and survey documentation for this project to the customer.
At the first stage of the design work, several options were worked out, including both the reconstruction of the currently operating airport and the construction of a new airport. Three sites were considered for construction. In the end, the Governor of the Irkutsk Region approved and coordinated with the head of Rosaviatsia the option of building a new airport near Pozdnyakovo.
From January to July 2009, “Aeroproject” and subcontracting organizations carried out full-scale engineering surveys and designed the airfield complex. After the creation of a public-private partnership, which is to carry out the construction, the remaining airport facilities and infrastructure will be designed.

“The construction of an airport on the scale of the new Irkutsk airport has never before occurred in modern Russian history,” Aeroproject emphasized. “In just under seven months this year, specialists from our research institute and subcontractors carried out large-scale engineering surveys, developed the investment justification, and designed the airfield complex. After the creation of a public-private partnership, which is to carry out the construction, the remaining airport facilities and infrastructure will be designed.”
