Dmitry Mezentsev was unanimously approved as governor of Irkutsk Oblast at a session of the Legislative Assembly, where all factions backed the candidate proposed by the president. The inauguration ceremony was held at the Irkutsk Drama Theater, and the new regional head took the oath before more than 300 people. Presidential envoy to the Siberian Federal District Anatoly Kvashnin called Mezentsev a politician of great stature, and the Legislative Assembly said it was ready to work together.
The new governor of the Irkutsk Region has been appointed. At the session of the region’s Legislative Assembly, Dmitry Mezentsev’s candidacy was approved unanimously. Attendance by the deputies was 100%.All factions represented in the Legislative Assembly of the Irkutsk Region unanimously approved the candidacy for the post of Governor of the Irkutsk Region, presented by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, in the person of Dmitry Mezentsev. As a reminder, Dmitry Mezentsev previously held the post of Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council. In addition, he is the commissioner for issues of the Business Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
The Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Siberian Federal District, Anatoly Kvashnin, described the new Governor as a politician of great stature, an honest and responsible person who knows how to listen and quickly grasp problems. He also noted that the completely different political views of the parties represented in the Legislative Assembly did not prevent the elected representatives from reaching a unanimous opinion regarding the region’s highest official.
The solemn inauguration ceremony of Dmitry Mezentsev as Governor of the Irkutsk Region took place in the building of the N. P. Okhlopkov Irkutsk Academic Drama Theater. Dmitry Mezentsev took the oath, placing his hand on the Charter of the Irkutsk Region.
