The first city hotel of Marriott International opened in Irkutsk, Courtyard Marriott Irkutsk City Center, the third in Russia after St. Petersburg and Kazan. It has 208 rooms and business venues.

In Irkutsk, a hotel of the international Marriott International chain has opened — the “Courtyard Marriott Irkutsk City Center.” This is the first city hotel of such a level. Irkutsk has become the third city in Russia, after St. Petersburg and Kazan, to welcome hotels from this international chain. As explained by the general manager of “Courtyard Marriott Irkutsk City Center,” Wolfgang Kohler, the decisive factor in choosing the city was Irkutsk’s proximity to Lake Baikal. “We believe in the development of Irkutsk as a major tourist center,” Mr. Kohler emphasized.

The hotel was built according to a design by Irkutsk architect Oleg Badula. “Courtyard Marriott Irkutsk City Center” is aimed primarily at the city’s business guests. It is positioned as a high-quality hotel with moderate prices. It has 208 rooms, most of which are in the de luxe category. One of the hotel’s key areas of activity is the organization and holding of business events of any format. The investment volume under the initial project was estimated at more than $25 million.

As acting mayor of Irkutsk Dmitry Razumov said, the city administration provided technical assistance in commissioning the facility. The appearance of the area and the city buildings in the district where the hotel was built is also changing actively. Thanks to investors, the area adjacent to it has been improved — paving stones have been laid, benches installed, and trees planted. As sponsorship assistance for the city’s anniversary, entrepreneurs renovated the facades of three wooden houses located near the hotel.

In the near future, reconstruction will begin on three monuments of federal significance located in Cheremkhovsky Lane. In November, Chkalov Street will be equipped with new-style stops — so-called “interactive bus shelters” with an information display and internet access services.
