Since January 1, 2009, in Irkutsk the ticket bought from the tram driver has become more expensive, now it costs 12 rubles instead of 10, while the price in kiosks stayed the same. At the same time, monthly tram and trolleybus passes rose to 600 rubles, and trolleybus fares will not increase yet. The article explains why the carrier raised prices and what passengers can expect in the coming months.
The ticket price purchased from tram drivers in Irkutsk has been increased from 10 rubles to 12 rubles as of January 1, 2009. The price of tram tickets sold at kiosks has remained unchanged. A fare increase on trolleybuses is not expected in the near future. This was reported to Teleinform by Alexander Gruk, Deputy General Director of the municipal unitary enterprise “Irkutskgorelektrotrans.”The cost of monthly travel passes for two modes of transport (tram-trolleybus) has also been increased; it now amounts to 600 rubles instead of the previous 400. As Alexander Gruk explained, the price increase occurred for several reasons, the main one being the rise in electricity tariffs as of January 1, 2009.
“The annual plan takes into account a trolleybus fare of 10 rubles,” Alexander Gruk noted. “So it can be said with confidence that, at least in January and February, the fare for this mode of transport will not increase. We fully understand that if we raise prices, it will have a negative impact on the passenger transportation market.”
