In Irkutsk, Kirov district police detained three young men suspected of a series of car robberies. The gang, nicknamed traffic light thieves, stole bags from moving cars when they slowed at traffic lights, usually targeting inattentive drivers. They were caught red handed, and if found guilty, face up to 7 years in prison.
A gang of three young men suspected of a series of robberies was detained the day before by the Kirovsky District Police Department of Irkutsk.Recently, there have been more frequent reports to the police from victims stating that a group of criminals in the area of Decembrist Events Street has been stealing bags from vehicles. The main difference from the notorious "barsetochniki" was that the criminals stole valuables directly from a moving car at the moment when the vehicle slowed down at a traffic light. Thanks to this, they received the corresponding nickname - the "traffic light" gang.
The criminals worked cautiously; their victims were most often girls who left bags on the front passenger seat and did not lock the door. The young men counted on the fact that such victims would not offer much resistance, and they were right. However, the police managed to detain the criminal trio directly at the moment the crime was being committed.
Two of those detained had previously been brought to criminal responsibility for theft, but had not taken the path of reform. If the suspects' guilt is proven in court, they face up to 7 years in prison.
