The Irkutsk City Court heard the case of a 14 year old who reported a false bomb threat at School No 22 in the Solnechny district. His call led to an evacuation from a parents meeting, but the alarm was false and he was quickly identified. He was fined 20 thousand rubles, to be paid by his mother, and his conviction will be cleared only after a year.
Yesterday, a session of the Irkutsk City Court took place. The case of yet another telephone hooligan was being heard. On the evening of November 26, 2008, a 14-year-old teenager reported that School No. 22 in the Solnechny microdistrict had been mined. At that time, a parents’ meeting was taking place in one of the school’s classrooms, and people had to be evacuated.
Emergency services, after inspecting the premises, concluded that the alarm was false. The hooligan was identified fairly quickly, fortunately now technical capabilities make this possible.
It turned out that the school had been chosen by the teenager at random; he found its phone number in a directory. The young offender does not study well and has already come to the attention of police officers; he is on record with the juvenile affairs inspectorate. He admitted his guilt, which somewhat mitigated the punishment. He could have ended up behind bars for up to 3 years, but he was given a fine of 20,000 rubles, which his mother will pay. Only after a year will the teenager’s criminal record be expunged.
