Vitali Klitschko returned to the ring in style after a four year break and won the WBC world title by stopping Samuel Peter after the eighth round. Now the Klitschko brothers dream of unifying all four belts, with the WBA title still missing. New challenges are already building around the elder Klitschko, as Juan Carlos Gomez and David Haye call him out, and bookmakers even do not rule out a sensational return by Lennox Lewis.

Vitaliy Klitschko became the world champion according to the WBC and once again rekindled interest in his persona. The Klitschko brothers dream of winning all four belts. In their family collection, only one title is now missing - the WBA version
Moscow. October 14. INTERFAX.RU - Vitaliy Klitschko made a triumphant return to the ring on Sunday night after a four-year break, during which he twice ran for mayor of Kyiv and underwent several serious operations. The holder of the WBC world champion title, Samuel Peter, nicknamed the "Nigerian Nightmare," finally got tired of playing the role of a punching bag with arms after the eighth round, when he refused to continue the bout. Vitaliy, who showed that even at 37 he remains one of the key figures in the heavyweight division, answered questions about his future evasively. Nevertheless, already two boxers - Briton David Haye and Cuban Juan Carlos Gomez - have thrown down the gauntlet to him. At the same time, bookmakers and experts do not rule out that in order to fight the elder Klitschko, which could become the most lucrative in the entire history of the sport, one of the greats - Briton Lennox Lewis - may return.
Immediately after his convincing victory over Peter, Vitaliy Klitschko noted that he very much wants his brother Vladimir to now face Ruslan Chagaev (the WBA world champion) or Nikolai Valuev (the interim champion of the same association) and bring the family the last, fourth championship belt. Let us recall that at the moment the younger Klitschko is the world's best boxer according to the WBO and IBF. The elder Klitschko preferred not to go into detail about his further sporting plans.
Famous American promoter Don King remained delighted with Vitaliy's magnificent form, which he regained after a long break, and promised to arrange a fight for him in Russia with his "protégé" Valuev. "I think it would be possible to put on a luxurious show in Russia, gather 150,000 spectators. I will ask Vladimir Putin to help organize such an important event in the world of boxing. This is a difficult but exciting task," he said in an interview with the German TV channel RTL.
Meanwhile, the mandatory challenger for the WBC heavyweight title, experienced Cuban Juan Carlos Gomez, said that he intends to defeat both brothers in turn and challenged Vitaliy to a fight: "I understand that you prefer to meet opponents who can't fight, however I am the official challenger for your title. You won't be able to run from me forever. After I win the title in a fight with Vitaliy, I will take the remaining belts from Vladimir." As it turned out, former heavyweight champion David Haye thinks in similar terms. "First give me Vladimir, and then I will face his older brother as well. Neither of them has the speed that I demonstrate, and they are both vulnerable," Allboxing quotes him as saying.
However, according to the British publication The Daily Star, there is a possibility that Vitaliy Klitschko's future opponent could be none other than the legendary 43-year-old Lennox Lewis. The Briton has long since ended his sporting career, but an offer of $42 million for a fight with the Ukrainian may make him think about returning to the ring. A hypothetical bout between two fighters who have already written their names into history would arouse enormous interest among spectators and bring its organizers colossal revenues. It remains to add that it was precisely in the fight with Lewis in 2003 that Vitaliy suffered one of his two defeats in the professional ring. At that time, the doctor stopped the bout before the seventh round because of a severe cut on Klitschko, and Lennox left boxing at the peak of his fame, as befits a true champion.
