Irkutsk women on Russias womens team became junior bandy world champions for the first time, beating rivals 17 to 9 in Finland. Coach Oksana Pronshina said there is still work to do.

As part of the Russian women’s national team, the Irkutsk players became world champions in junior bandy for the first time. The overall score was 17:9. The World Championship was held in Finland.
For head coach Oksana Pronshina, this tournament was the first serious test in her role as a coach. She admits she was worried, but the girls did not let her down. However, there are still some remarks. "The downside is probably their childlike psychology. We beat the Swedes in the first match - 2:1. And our girls relaxed. They probably thought that the World Championship gold was already in their pocket, and they simply couldn’t get themselves ready for the game against the Finnish team," says Oksana Pronshina, head coach of the Russian team.
Although, perhaps, such criticism is a way of protecting against possible "star disease." Still, the winners can be a little "starry," because the World Championship among players no older than 17 was held for the first time. By the way, today at a press conference, the president of the regional bandy federation, Vladimir Matienko, said that the Women’s World Championship may be held in Irkutsk. Tentatively, in February 2012.
