Two months remain until Eurovision 2009, and a new scandal has already erupted around the Russian entry. Vocal teacher Yadviga Psepkovskaya from Rostov accused Konstantin Meladze of plagiarism. She says the melody of Mamo, which Anastasia Prikhodko will perform, is very similar to her own song Grown Up Love, and plans to seek a review in various authorities.
There are still almost two months left until the “Eurovision 2009” contest, but the scandals surrounding it have not subsided. Another one has erupted around the song with which Anastasia Prikhodko will perform for Russia.36-year-old vocal teacher from Rostov, Yadviga Psepkovskaya stated that the music for the song belongs to her, and accused Anastasia Prikhodko’s producer Konstantin Meladze of plagiarism.
Yadviga says that in December she sent a music video with a song of her own composition, filmed within the walls of Rostov School No. 51, to the contest. However, the vocal teacher was never allowed into the open national selection.
- The melody of the song came to me back in December, - she said, - just at the time when I was taking a shower.
By the very next day, the woman had the lyrics ready.
Yadviga claims that the music of that very song, which will represent Russia at the contest in May, belongs to her!
- On March 7, just in case, I decided to record the Eurovision 2009 broadcast that was on TV, - Yadviga Psepkovskaya told Komsomolskaya Pravda. - But when I heard the melody of my song “Grown-Up Love” performed by the Ukrainian pop diva Nastya Prikhodko, I was in shock!
Yes, the music of the song “Mamo” is a little different from mine, but only the rhythmic pattern has been changed in it!
And no one gave producer Konstantin Meladze the right to infringe my authorship!
I did not give him any rights to distort my music!
What they did on ORT is ordinary theft! After all, when I sent my video to the contest, in the preface I stated that I did not consent to preliminary and hidden screenings without mandatory live broadcast!
- Nothing, - the angry author continues, - I have already prepared letters to eight authorities, including the Prosecutor General’s Office and to the current President. Let them deal with it! And the fact that our country will be represented by a Ukrainian woman is, in essence, an infringement of the constitutional rights of native citizens of Russia!
- This is a scandal of global proportions, I am not afraid to say it, - concluded the failed contestant, - but I will exert all my efforts, and this plagiarism will not be heard in May at “Eurovision 2009”!
