The largest house of Vladimir Platonovich Sukachev estate reopened after renovation and became the fourth restored building of the complex. Here was once the famous art gallery that began the collection of the Irkutsk Art Museum, and today 19th century atmosphere is created by interior items. The largest house of the estate was opened in December 2008 after renovation. It became the fourth restored building of Vladimir Platonovich Sukachev’s estate. It was here that the famous art gallery was previously located, which became the basis of the collection of the Irkutsk Art Museum. There are no paintings in the room yet. The atmosphere of the past is created by 19th-century interior items. In May, in this house, for the first time in almost 100 years, a real ball will be held.
Natalia Goncharenko, head of the V. P. Sukachev house-estate, notes: “Naturally, the house looks a little empty, but for us and for visitors it is valuable in itself as an architectural phenomenon. When we bring visitors here, we show, first of all, the interior decoration of this house.”
