The Irkutsk Regional Center for Folk Art became a laureate of the all Russian competition among 89 cultural institutions. It was highly rated for its diverse work in developing and popularizing folk art, as well as research, methodological, publishing, and exhibition projects. This is not the centers first victory, and next year it will mark its 70th anniversary and continue to strengthen its position at the all Russian level.

The Irkutsk Center for Folk Art has become a laureate of the All-Russian review-competition of centers and houses of folk art. 89 cultural institutions took part in the competition, and the winners were representatives of Irkutsk, Smolensk, Belgorod, and Dagestan.
The Irkutsk Regional Center for Folk Art is not becoming a laureate of the All-Russian competition for the first time; it already received this high award in 2006. Since then, significant events have taken place at the Center, further enhancing its prestige. For example, the All-Russian exhibition “Rus of Master Craftsmen” and a meeting of the directors of the country’s centers of folk art.
The director of the State House of Folk Art, Elvira Kunina, emphasized that the main reason for the Irkutsk residents’ victory was “diverse and successful work in the development and promotion of artistic folk art.” This includes research, methodological, publishing, and exhibition work, as well as cooperation with municipalities. With such high results, the Center will celebrate its 70th anniversary next year.
– Thanks to your team, we are heard on the international stage, – the deputy minister of culture and archives of the Irkutsk Region, Vyacheslav Kozhevnikov, congratulated the Center’s staff. – Representatives of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the State House of Folk Art have repeatedly visited you, and we were proud of your material base and creative team. And behind all this lies painstaking work. Today, not a single municipality in the Angara region can say that it has no contact with the regional center of folk art.
