Changes have occurred in the repertoire of the city clock in the center of AngarskIn Angarsk’s “Big Ben,” the chime has been changed. For a week, the anthem of the city of petrochemists has been replaced by the melody of the main song of Victory Day.
The Angarsk clock plays the melody using a computer. The sound comes from speakers installed at the top of the tower. The volume has been experimented with several times — at one point, the chimes could be heard not only in the center, but also on the outskirts of the city. However, residents of nearby houses were not thrilled about this. The area of sound had to be strictly limited. Now the clock chime and melody can be heard only in the square. At eight in the evening, the melody becomes even quieter. And at ten, it falls silent altogether.
The Victory Day melody will play until the end of the May holidays. After that, the people of Angarsk will once again hear the anthem of their city. In general, these clocks can reproduce absolutely any melody, up to the most popular hits.
On May 9, a ceremonial parade will begin here in the city’s central square. It will start at 11 o’clock — when the local chimes perform Victory Day.
