In Irkutsk, several youth and sports events will take place next weekend, a mini soccer tournament, the open interregional street culture festival Know Ours 2009, skateboarding contests and a bard song festival.

This weekend in Irkutsk, if there is no rain, competitions in various disciplines will take place, including the Open Interregional Street Culture Festival.
On June 20, regardless of the weather, a mini-football tournament dedicated to Medical Worker’s Day will be held. The games will begin at 2:30 p.m. on the small field of Lokomotiv Stadium (Kurort Angara stop). Eight teams of medical workers will take part in the tournament.
If there is no rain, on June 20 the Open Interregional Street Culture Festival “Know Ours-2009” will take place. The festival will be held at the venue of the entertainment complex “Odnoklassniki” from 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Today, the hip-hop movement is very popular among young people — above all, it means a healthy lifestyle and an active civic stance. Rap, breakdancing, and graffiti are actively developing forms of leisure organization in the modern youth environment.
As part of the Year of Youth events, on June 20, 2009, the Department for Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy of the Committee for Social Policy and Culture of the Irkutsk City Administration, together with the youth initiative group “Know Ours-connection,” is holding the open interregional street culture festival “Know Ours-2009.”
For the first time, the festival was held outdoors in 2008 and brought together more than a thousand people.
This year the festival is being held at a new venue for the city — near the entertainment complex “Odnoklassniki” (Gagarin Boulevard)
The festival program includes performances by popular Irkutsk rap and breakdance groups, DJs, guests from other cities, a graffiti contest, and a rap performers contest. Participants in the competition program:

On June 21, also if the weather is good, skateboarding competitions dedicated to the international skateboarding day “Go skateboarding day” will be held. The event will take place at the venue near the restaurant “Kyoto” (13A K. Marx St.) from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

The Department for Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy of the Committee for Social Policy and Culture of the Irkutsk City Administration, together with the Irkutsk regional public organization of extreme sports “Board Front,” is holding the skateboarding competition “Go skateboarding day” with the aim of popularizing and developing extreme sports among young people, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and popularizing the Year of Youth and Youth Day in Irkutsk.
On the international skateboarding day, the event is held in more than forty cities across Russia.
Anyone who wishes to — a skateboarding enthusiast — after registration, has the right to take part in competitions in various categories (beginners, pros, etc.).
Based on the results of the competitions, participants will be awarded commemorative gifts from the organizers and partners.
Also this weekend, from June 19 to 21, the Irkutsk Regional Bard Song Festival - "Olkhinsky Strings-2009" - is taking place at the "Dachnaya" station.
