Our compatriot, director Ivan Vyrypaev, is coming to Irkutsk for the premiere of his new film Oxygen and will personally tell viewers about its making, then discuss it with fans after the screening. Actors Karolina Grushko and Alexey Filimonov will come with him, and the screening will be free at the Khudozhestvenny cinema around July 23. Oxygen has already caused a sensation at Kinotavr 2009, where it won awards for best directing and music, as well as the White Elephant prize. It is an experimental film clip, which Vyrypaev calls a parable in rap style and invites viewers to reflect on eternal questions.

Our fellow countryman, director Ivan Vyrypaev, is coming to the premiere of “Oxygen”
Before the screening begins, the director will tell the audience about the history of the film’s creation, and after the showing he will discuss it with fans. Along with the director, the actors who starred in “Oxygen” will come — Karolina Gruszka and Alexey Filimonov (“Boomer”) — another fellow countryman of ours.
Ivan Vyrypaev has long won over audiences around the world. His famous film “Euphoria” was remembered by viewers and received several prestigious awards at the Nika film awards and won the Golden Lion Cub at the Venice Film Festival in 2006.
And now the director is coming with his new film “Oxygen.” The premiere will take place around July 23 at the Khudozhestvenny cinema. Everyone will be able to see this film for free.
- Irkutsk residents are lucky. Muscovites, for example, will only see the film on July 30, - says Tatyana Yerokhina, chief methodologist of the House of Cinema. – “Oxygen” has already caused a real sensation at Kinotavr-2009 in Sochi. The film won immediately in several categories: “Best Direction,” “Best Music,” and received the White Elephant award from the Guild of Film Scholars and Film Critics.
“Oxygen” is a film-clip. The music for it was written by several composers, including Oleg Kostorov, Andrey Samsonov, Aydar Gainullin, the band “Marksheider Kunst,” and others. According to the director, the genre of the film can be defined as a “parable in rap style,” since the plot is based on biblical legends refracted through the consciousness of modern people. The creators claim that the film is a manifesto of the youth of the 21st century: the characters of the play reflect on what is happening in the world and around them.
- “Oxygen” is a film based on my play, - Ivan Vyrypaev shared with us. – In it, two young progressive people try to compare the Ten Commandments with their own lives. We made an art film primarily for cinemas, for the big screen. The film is experimental, made as 10 clips, according to all the laws of clip editing. I think this is a film for those who want to reflect on the eternal.
Ivan will stay in Irkutsk for only a short time — promotional events in other cities and the premiere of “Oxygen” in Moscow lie ahead.
