On the shore of Lake Baikal, the Second International Youth Industrial Forum Engineers of the Future 2012 begins, bringing together over 1500 participants from 30 countries, students, graduate students, young specialists and scientists. The forum will feature lectures, round tables, workshops and discussions with leaders of major companies and leading technical universities. More than 1,500 participants from various industries, scientists, and students from technical universities from more than 30 countries around the world will take part in the Second International Youth Industrial Forum “Engineers of the Future 2012.” It is being held from July 17 to 30 on the shores of Lake Baikal, on the initiative of the Government of the Irkutsk Region and the Union of Machine Builders of Russia, with the support of the State Corporation “Rostec” and the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation.
The Forum participants are students and postgraduate students from leading Russian and foreign technical universities, as well as young specialists from industrial enterprises. The Irkutsk Region will be represented by 100 people from Irkutsk and Bratsk, including students of ISTU and young engineers from the Irkutsk Aviation Plant, the Irkutsk Heavy Machinery Plant, the Irkutsk Relay Plant, and other enterprises.
Specialists from leading technical universities, including Bauman Moscow State Technical University, took an active part in shaping the Forum’s business and educational program. As experts for the business and educational program, which includes lectures, round tables, master classes, and discussions, the Forum has invited executives of major industrial enterprises and consulting companies, as well as professors from leading technical universities.
- The “Engineers of the Future” Forum is an effective platform for both employers and young participants. For young people, it is an opportunity to make themselves known and present their projects, and for employers, it is an opportunity to assess the potential of young specialists for their further advancement up the career ladder. As has already become traditional, a ranking selection will be held within the Forum, based on the results of which the most active Forum participants will be named, - Igor Ivanov noted.
- The tasks of the 2012 Forum have been formulated taking into account the challenges facing Russian industry. These are the creation of high-tech jobs, a move away from the raw-materials-based economic model, and the development of high-tech production. It is precisely these tasks that young engineers must address today, - said Alexander Veprev.
As a reminder, in 2011 in the Irkutsk Region, the Government of the Irkutsk Region together with the All-Russian public organization “Union of Machine Builders of Russia” held the first International Youth Industrial Forum “Engineers of the Future.” At the invitation of the Union of Machine Builders of Russia and Rostec, more than 1,400 young specialists, scientists, postgraduate students, and students from 291 industrial companies and 52 universities from 56 regions of the Russian Federation, as well as participants from 32 foreign countries, took part in the Forum.
