Two games - two victories. For the first time in the entire history of BC Irkut's Super League B campaign, the team defeated its opponent twice on home court.
Our basketball players were visited by title-winning opponents. In last year's Super League B championship, the team Soyuz from Zarechny became the silver medalist. Nevertheless, at the start of the game, the Irkut players were quicker. Sergey Tokarev made a precise three-point shot. Less than a quarter into the match, the visitors were already ahead - 23:11.
In the second quarter, the Irkut players reduced the gap as much as possible. Ruslan Prokopyev scored from long range. On a pass from Anton Lanchakov, Irkut center Dmitry Shishlov was accurate. And now the score is tied - 36:36.
After the main break, the rested players once again rushed into battle. Neither the visitors nor the hosts gave in. One minute before the end of the match, the scoreboard again showed a tied score: 74:74. The Soyuz basketball players committed a foul, and Evgeny Salovarov's players - Sergey Tokarev and Ruslan Prokopyev - took free throws. The final score of the game is 81:74 in favor of Irkut.
- No one thought it would be an easy walk today. We prepared the guys for a fight. So everything is fair. Even when we were down by 15, the guys found the strength. And yesterday's game showed that we can play. We took the lead. Until the final whistle, we kept control in our hands, says Irkut head coach Evgeny Salovarov.
Our basketball players have away games ahead. They will play at home only in mid-December. Against Ural from Yekaterinburg.
