The thieves of the expensive foreign car turned out to be a security guard and a manager of the car dealership from which the car was stolen

In Irkutsk, police solved the nighttime theft of a Hyundai Genesis Coupe from a car dealership. Traffic police spotted the stolen foreign car, then the driver lost control and crashed. It turned out the driver was a 26 year old guard and a 22 year old manager from the same auto shop, who after drinking decided to drive around the city in a car worth nearly a million rubles. A criminal case has been opened against them, and the young men were released on a travel ban.

The previous morning, in the early hours, the duty unit in Irkutsk received a call from a local entrepreneur. The man reported that during the night, a Hyundai Genesis Coupe had been stolen from a car dealership located on Barrikad Street, which he had put up for sale.
Having at their disposal a description of the stolen foreign car, traffic police and criminal investigation officers working in the Kuibyshevsky District soon spotted a similar sedan on the road. At the sight of the patrol car, its driver hurried to turn onto one of the smaller streets; however, after driving only a few hundred meters, he lost control and crashed into a car parked by the roadside.
When they arrived at the scene of the accident, the police found two young men in the Hyundai’s cabin. They turned out to be a 26-year-old security guard and a 22-year-old manager from that very auto shop from which the theft had been committed. It was established that the friends, after drinking a considerable amount of alcohol, decided to take a ride around the city at night. For their amusement, they chose a model worth nearly one million rubles.
A criminal case has been opened against the car dealership employees under Part 2 of Article 166 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (unlawful taking of a vehicle or other means of transport without the intent to steal). At present, the young men, who face imprisonment or a large fine, are under a travel restriction order.
