The Heritage search team is returning from Saint Petersburg after the 14th Memory Watch at the legendary Nevsky Pyatachok. During the expedition, the remains of 28 Red Army soldiers and commanders were found, as well as 8 death medallions, 3 of which were read and one fellow countryman from Kimeltey identified. The team, made up of Irkutsk schoolchildren, has been doing search work for 13 years. In that time, more than 400 soldiers have been found and reburied.

Today, July 23, the search unit “Nasledie” is returning from St. Petersburg by train No. 10.
The unit commander, Valery Sevryuk, spoke about the results of the 2012 Memory Watch: “The remains of 28 soldiers and commanders of the Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army who defended the legendary ‘Nevsky Pyatachok’ were found. Eight death medallions were found, of which 3 were read, and the name of our fellow countryman from the settlement of Kimeltey was established.”
As a reminder, on June 25 the young members of “Nasledie” left for St. Petersburg. The unit “Nasledie” held its 14th Memory Watch this time in the Kirovsky District of the Leningrad Region at the legendary “Nevsky Pyatachok.” Under this name, a small bridgehead on the left bank of the Neva opposite the settlement of Nevskaya Dubrovka entered history forever. The size of this strip of land constantly changed: from 4 to 1 km along the front and from 800 to 350 m in depth. Only 30–40 meters separated the defenders of the Neva line from enemy positions. None of the attempts to break the blockade from this line were successful. But this does not diminish the heroism and steadfastness of the Russian soldier who fought on the “Pyatachok.” According to participants in the battles, “they never again saw anything more tragic, terrible, and heroic than that ‘Pyatachok.’”
The “Nasledie” unit consists of school students from Irkutsk. Over the 13-year history of the unit, more than four hundred soldiers of the Red Army have been found and reburied.
