In Irkutsk, patrol officers detained a taxi driver and two passengers, in whose car more than 300 packaged packets of heroin were found. The suspicious behavior of the young people drew police attention, after which a chase began and the cabin was searched, where the drugs were found. A check is now underway into the illegal drug trafficking.
Employees of the patrol and post service detained a taxi driver in whose car there was a large quantity of heroin, amounting to 300 packets. The day before, while patrolling Profsoyuznaya Street in Irkutsk, police officers noticed a vehicle — a Toyota Carina taxi — parked by a house. Seeing the police, a young man and a girl standing next to the foreign car quickly got into the cabin, and the car sped off.
This haste seemed very suspicious to the police. Especially since they noticed the passenger in the back seat hurriedly taking something out of his pockets and hiding it. After a short pursuit, the patrol UAZ blocked the foreign car. The first thing the investigative-operational group officers who arrived at the scene did was inspect the Toyota’s interior.
Soon it became clear why its passenger had been so nervous — on the floor, under the mat, the operatives found more than three hundred so-called packets of white powder, packaged for sale. Later, an examination confirmed that it was a narcotic substance — heroin.
All three suspects, who denied the fact of selling a large batch of the drug, were taken to Police Department No. 1. There, the 26-year-old young man and his 27-year-old girlfriend admitted that they were long-time drug addicts.
Further investigation into the illegal trafficking of narcotics is being conducted by the investigative authorities.
