The Priangarye junior boxing championship has started at Spartak gym. 80 young athletes from several cities are competing for titles in 11 weight classes. It is a chance to prove themselves and make the Irkutsk region team for the Siberian championship in Krasnoyarsk.
Yesterday, the first bouts of the Angara Region Junior Boxing Championship took place in the Spartak sports hall. Athletes in 11 weight categories are competing for championship titles.80 young boxers from Taishet, Cheremkhovo, Zheleznogorsk, Zima, and Bratsk are taking part in the competition. All participants have the opportunity to make the junior team of the Irkutsk Region. And to compete at the Siberian Federal District Championship in Krasnoyarsk.
- Good guys - last year’s juniors - have already moved on to adult boxing. This is the right age here. Surprises are constantly expected. And new good boxers keep appearing. It is very difficult to predict here, says Pavel Kamenshchikov, president of the Boxing Federation of the Irkutsk Region.
- The opponents have become stronger, with more experience. They train a lot. They are becoming more mature. Everything is changing, says competition participant Vladimir Salomatov.
