In Irkutsk at the Philharmonia stop, a 70 year old pensioner tried to rob a kiosk, threatening the seller with a knife. The woman managed to press the alarm button, and within minutes he was detained by security and police. Later it was found that money shortage and alcohol addiction drove him to the crime

The day before, in the Kirovsky District of the regional center, at the “Filarmoniya” stop, police officers and private security guards detained a 70-year-old pensioner for attempting to rob a kiosk.
Seeing an elderly man through the window of the night shop, the saleswoman did not at all expect criminal actions from him. But the pensioner turned out not to be timid. Quite drunk, the man knocked on the window, after which he began threatening the saleswoman with a knife and demanding money. The woman did not lose her composure and pressed the panic button. Within just a few minutes, the would-be robber was detained by employees of a private security company. A patrol from the non-departmental security service arrived at the scene and took the pensioner to the duty station of Police Department No. 5 of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Irkutsk.
Later, law enforcement officers established that the motives that prompted the 70-year-old pensioner to commit the crime were lack of money and alcohol dependence.
