5 kindergartens and three schools will be equipped with video surveillance systems during the summer. This issue was discussed the day before at a meeting of the city’s anti-terrorism commission.
As the head of the law enforcement work department of the Irkutsk city administration, Igor Vashchenko, said, 7.6 million rubles have been allocated from the city budget in 2012 for these purposes. If funds are saved following the auction, this will make it possible to equip at least two more institutions with video surveillance systems.
As Igor Vashchenko noted, after all the work is completed, the number of municipal facilities equipped with such systems will reach 73 (66.8 percent of the total). These include 59 educational institutions, 8 healthcare institutions, and 6 cultural institutions.
To equip the remaining institutions, 258 million rubles are needed. As Igor Vashchenko noted, this money will be provided for in the “Safe City” program, planned for implementation in 2013-2017.
