In Irkutsk, during the Mak operation, a 42 year old drug dealer was detained, whom officers had been tracking for several days. He was caught red handed while handing over a large heroin shipment, and marked money and other evidence confirmed his involvement in drug trafficking. Notably, during the search, officers found a request for a visit with his wife, who is also serving time for drug dealing.

During the specialized operational and preventive operation “Mak,” which is being carried out in the territory of the Angara region, officers of the department for combating illegal drug trafficking of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Directorate for the city of Irkutsk detained a 42-year-old drug dealer. The operation to detain him was carried out in the Pervomaysky microdistrict.
- We had been “shadowing” our “client” for several days. We carefully prepared the operation to apprehend him. In order to initiate a criminal case, it was important to document everything in detail and gather evidence, - says the operative officer.
The suspect was caught, as they say, red-handed. While handing over a large batch of heroin (more than 60 packets) to a wholesale buyer, he did not even suspect that detectives were watching his actions and that the money had been marked with a special substance. As soon as the deal was completed, the arrest team moved in, eliminating any attempt at resistance from the drug trafficker. When the handcuffs clicked on the detainee’s wrists, he pretended not to understand what had caused such treatment from the police. During the search of the man’s shoulder bag, operatives found about 5,000 rubles, from which copies had been made in advance. In the presence of witnesses, the participants in the operation checked the banknote numbers. They, of course, turned out to be identical. The irrefutable evidence made it possible to establish the suspect’s involvement in the sale of narcotic drugs. He has now been remanded in custody by the court.
Notably, during the search, a statement addressed to the head of the women’s penal colony was found on the man, in which he asks for a meeting with his wife. It turns out that his other half is already serving a sentence there as well for drug trafficking. A criminal case has been opened against the drug dealer under Part 2 of Article 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Illegal production, sale, or shipment of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, or their analogues). If the detainee’s guilt is proven, he faces up to 12 years in prison.
