In Irkutsk at Kirov Square, the one day sculpture festival Art was held, where four participants presented unusual street installations, from a four meter carrot to a staircase leading to the sky. Organizers note that such projects not only beautify the city, but also inspire Irkutsk residents with new creative ideas for improvement. The festival results will be summed up in a month, and all works have already been put to a public vote.
The one-day sculpture festival “Art,” like the first time, took place in Kirov Square. This time, four participants presented their street sculptures and installations. Among them was the children’s art studio “Taburetka,” which crafted a four-meter carrot out of wood and foam rubber. The advertising agency “Favorit” with a staircase leading into the sky. LLC “Art Group” with the composition “Orange Mood,” representing a “family” of orange chairs, and the creative organization “Semaphore,” which presented a miracle tree to the public.Paper, plastic, nails, wood — these are the simple materials used by the designers participating in the festival to create their works. “Of course, such a sculpture will not last long,” comments Olga Dyachkina, chief specialist of the architecture and urban design department of the Irkutsk city administration, “but such festivals stimulate the creative abilities of Irkutsk residents, and can also become a sketch for some more serious work. There are many corners in Irkutsk that need improvement, and ideas for their design are in great demand.”
As a reminder, the first stage of the festival took place in Irkutsk on July 20. Five organizations took part in it, presenting 23 works for the people of Irkutsk to see. Photos of all the figures and installations displayed during the summer are posted on the city administration’s website for public voting. The results of the festival will be summed up in a month. Valuable gifts await the winners.
