In Irkutsk, missile forces lieutenant Vladimir Sinyakin detained an armed knife robber who attacked a 21 year old student in the entrance of her building. The officer, noticing the girl being chased, rushed to help, caught and held the previously convicted 48 year old man until police arrived. His act has already been noted by the unit command and the regional Interior Ministry office.
The previous evening, the duty unit of the “Irkutsk-35” police department received a report from a resident of the Zeleny microdistrict about an attack committed against her. The girl said that an unknown man, threatening her with a knife, had tried to rob her.The criminal attacked the 21-year-old student right in the entrance of her building. By a lucky chance, an officer passing by noticed a suspicious stranger following the girl. Hearing a woman’s scream, he immediately rushed to help. The young man caught up with and subdued what turned out to be a hardened repeat offender, holding him until the police patrol arrived. The 48-year-old suspect had previously been convicted multiple times.
The lieutenant of the missile forces, Vladimir Sinyakin, who detained the robber, arrived in Irkutsk only a month ago after graduating from military school—to begin his service. After going to the scene of the crime, the head of the intermunicipal police department (MO MVD of Russia for OVRO), Igor Gresko, thanked Vladimir for his civic engagement and his concern for what was happening. “The 21-year-old serviceman performed a courageous deed in civilian life, as befits an officer of the Russian Army,” commented the police lieutenant colonel.
