In Irkutsk, 5 million rubles were allocated this year for the development of physical culture and sports. 24 projects out of 55 applications received support. Among them are new sports grounds, modern equipment, master classes, facility repairs, and even a newspaper about children's sports. City authorities have already checked how some initiatives are being implemented, including a world class climbing wall and the construction of a yard playground on Chernyshevsky.
As Dmitry Abramovich reported, 5 million rubles have been allocated from the city budget this year for the implementation of projects aimed at developing physical culture and sports. In the grant competition, which is held annually by the Department of Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy, 55 applications were submitted in 2012 from public sports organizations, territorial public self-governments, and individuals. Municipal support was provided to 24 projects. The winning projects are very diverse in focus: the installation of new sports grounds, the purchase of expensive sports equipment, the publication of a newspaper about children's sports, the holding of master classes, the repair of sports facilities, and others. All projects are united by common criteria: accessibility, mass participation, and practical significance for the residents of Irkutsk. On August 27, Dmitry Abramovich, head of the Department of Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy of the Irkutsk city administration, together with Natalia Ivanova, head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports, visited the organizations that received subsidies from the city budget for the implementation of projects in the field of physical culture and sports.
Dmitry Abramovich and Natalia Ivanova visited a world-class climbing wall located at 14B Lenin St. The 15-meter-high wall was ceremoniously opened on August 11, on Physical Culture Day. Now Irkutsk climbers are honing their skills on it. 227 thousand rubles were allocated from the municipal treasury for the implementation of the project.
Then representatives of the city authorities inspected the construction of a new sports ground at 17 Chernyshevsky St. Almost 226 thousand rubles were allocated to the Rubin territorial public self-government for the implementation of the project. A fence is currently being installed, exercise equipment is being received, and if the weather does not let us down, the equipment will be installed by September 1. Right now, the courtyard of the building is adorned with figures of fairy-tale characters, a hut on chicken legs, and tables for playing chess. Another equally important project is the arrangement of a children's show-jumping field for pony sports on the grounds of the Irkutsk Hippodrome. It is planned to complete the work in two weeks, and at the end of September to hold competitions on the new show-jumping field.
