At a roundtable on preschool education development in Irkutsk Region, they discussed the acute shortage of kindergarten places and possible solutions. Andrey Labygin said deputies plan to consider compensation for parents whose children did not get into preschools, but calculations, criteria and a legal framework are needed. It was also noted that without regional cofinancing, the municipality will struggle to handle this task.

This issue was discussed today at the round table “Development of Preschool Education in the Irkutsk Region,” which was held at the regional branch of the Union of Journalists of Russia. When discussing the problem of the shortage of places in preschool institutions, the round table participants noted the need for an early resolution of the issue.
As noted by the Speaker of the Irkutsk City Duma, Andrey Labygin, the deputies intend to consider in detail the possibility of paying compensation to parents whose children did not get into kindergarten in the near future. To resolve this issue, it is necessary to calculate the financial costs, clearly define the criteria, and also develop the necessary regulatory and legal framework. But it will not be possible for the municipality to solve this problem entirely at its own expense. Payments may be provided on the condition of co-financing part of the costs from the regional budget.
